A bit of a rant...

I know the primary focus of this blog is my adventures and the longer I live in London the longer I get frustrated by the lack of progress in this country! DOn't get me wrong, I LOVE living here and I am so grateful for the opportunities I have been able to have since getting the boot from Corus...But I just need to rant.....

What is with the banking system in Britian!!? For having one of the oldest systems in the world you would think that there would be a bit more cutting edge. Today as I waited for Barclays to open and grew more and more frustrated as the staff just stood there chatting past the 9.30 opening time I thought that I would just use the cash machine around the corner to deposit my £13.50.....Nope, no outside cash machines (that I have ever seen) accept deposits. Here is my first complaint. How is Canada more advanced in this field? For as long as I can remember I have been able to make a deposit at any Scotiabank machine...Nope, not in England. So back to waiting for the staff to finish nattering. Finally get into the bank to the cash machines in the corner where only one is an actual cash machine and one is to pay bills and the other two are "pay in". I grab a deposit envelope from the table in front of the machines and see that I have to fill in all of my information....ALL of my information...Name, phone number, account number, sorting number, whether I am depositing cash, cash and a cheque or just a cheque and how much it is for. Put my cheque in the envelope, turn around, go to Pay In machine have to start two or three times because the touch screen is slow and I am impatient....Get to the part where I put in the envelope..Oh the machine doesn't accept envelopes. Then why the fuck are there envelopes by the machine?....Have to fill out a deposit sheet. Eff this, I'm going to the teller. Where I have to fill out a deposit slip...twice. Sigh. I miss Canada
